The Family Advocacy Center, Inc. is a local child abuse prevention agency. We currently offer programs in the Hopkins, Christian, Muhlenberg, and Webster County areas of Western KY.

 

We offer many different programs through our agency to help bring awareness and prevention to this area about child abuse and neglect. Some of our main programs are:

 

 

Nurturing Parenting - Through a twelve week program, parents learn basic skills and tips that will help them to cope with parenting. Some concepts that are covered include: stress management, alternatives to spanking, developing empathy, and drug and alcohol abuse within the family. This program is free of charge. Make an appoint to enroll.

 

Cooperative Parenting - Through this program divorcing or separated parents learn techniques on how to remain child focused and keep their children out of the middle of the relationship. Co-parents learn how to remain committed to their child even though they are no longer in a marital or intimate relationship with the co-parent. Fee for this class is $75.  Make an appointment to enroll.

 

Crisis Counseling - Free counseling and support services are available to children who are victims of physical or sexual abuse or witnesses to domestic violence. Make an appointment to enroll your child or children.

 

Personal Body Safety Programs - The Yello DynoSafety Party introduces young children to important safety rules to keep their bodies safe - all through a friendly puppet.

Kids on the Block utilize child sized puppets to present the issues of physical and sexual abuse in a non-threatening way to older elementary age children.
